Here is an example of a painting that hardly resembles its original sketch. This piece was inspired by an intoxicated crisis I went through when I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize myself. There was terror in the reflection that stared back at me that night. The striking combination of black, red, and white captures that moment's threatening immediacy.
